The Friends of the Library

In these challenging economic times, the Friends of the Library continue to play a vital role in the continuing success of the Estes Valley Library.

For 2012, the Friends provided $64,603 to the Library for library programs and materials.  These funds were used to purchase books on CD and downloadable e-books; to provide support for adult programs and the small business resource center; and to provide incentives for the Library volunteers.  For 2013, the Friends of the Library have committed $60,000 to support the Estes Valley Library.

The all-volunteer Friends of the Library raises the majority of its money from two annual used book sales.  The August 2012 sale earned $28,617 and the December 2012 sale earned $5,319.  The Friends also sell books on shelves located on the first floor of the library, where superior quality books may be purchased daily throughout the year at very reasonable prices.  Those sales provided another $7,284 for the Friends.

The Friends is a membership organization, and those memberships also raise important funds for library programs. Pick up an application at the Library today, and become a Friend of the Library!!

A high point of the year is the Friends Annual Potluck and Membership Meeting every October.  The Friends Annual Potluck and Membership Meeting will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in the Walnut Room at the YMCA of the Rockies. The Potluck starts at 6:00pm and the program begins at 7:00pm. The public is always invited and welcome to this fun, causal and entertaining event. Please bring a dish to share, plus your own plates and tableware.
